Well worth reading, it details everything that's going wrong inside Blizzard/Activision and how utterly evil the people running it are.

Hint - Blizzard is a business and wants to make money like any other business in the world. No one is forcing you yourself to spend money on anything Blizzard related.

Well you can't blame Blizzard for not selling games the way they did back in the 90's. Video game industry has evolved and continues to evolve...
Let's just wait and see what the results of ActiBlizzard's particular approach are going to be.

I care in that, I want my clan support/chat channels NOW. As for their business model, there's nothing wrong with it. Rockband, COD and all the other activision games are based off of it. The game costs X amount and you buy anything extra/essential that you want. The rest you ignore, or wait til it's free.

Only for stuff I really like. For rockband, metallica is a nice band, but I'm not gonna buy it just so I can flail horribly at it. But paying for the rockband files to transfer over to rockband 2 is worth it.

i agree totally with businesses wanting to maximize profits because of the demands put on by shareholders. however, what i got mostly from that article is a continuing trend of having a "if it doesnt seem broke then dont fix it in order to save money" attitude that has taken over pretty much all industries and not just the gaming industry. inevitably this turns into a varitable beta test on the public consumers, who also have to pay to play. microsoft did this with windows vista, car companies are doing this with newer and "improved" vehicles, and blizz may be doing it with their games.

one can say that "if you dont like it then dont buy it" and i agree totally. but what happens when the benefits out-way the costs enough to get the consumer to squeeze out the extra penny for the possibility of temporary bad service/product. This way the company maximizes its profits on the backs of their consumers instead of sharing an overall good product.

if industry is moving into then thats fine. its pretty much only good for short term profit via short sighted vision. however, i would argue the the older style of business, which is long term profit and stability, is still a much stronger model. in the end i blame the share holders having to much control on decisions when all they want is money and not good product/consumer base.

just some thoughts. =D
