Iron Maiden > Diamond Head > Megadeth = Judas Priest > Metallica

In comparison to Megadeth, Metallica has a some really good songs (One, FtB, Sad But True, etc) but they have a LOT of more shitty material than Megadeth, whose only really bad song I can think of right now is Sweating Bullets. I'm not sure how their new album is, but St. Anger and Death Magnetic both kinda sucked so it doesn't even matter. In short, Metallica's best songs are better than Megadeth's, but Megadeth is much more consistent.

In fact, two of Metallica's more popular songs, Helpless and Am I Evil are covers of Diamond Head, and the riff of Seek and Destroy is almost a carbon copy of the riff from Diamond Head's Sucking My Love (which came out three years prior).
